A Quaskian named E-yarn lives on Earth. It was discovered in 1994 although it is unknown how long it has been here. It is from E-yarn that we have learnt the Chronicles of Quask.

Protagonists

E-yarn

Commander of the Seventh Army.

Hero of Zedos 7.

Smarsh

Acting Head Clerk of Marshian Administrator Corps to Zedos 7

Griff

Mektonian worker 113B

E-yarn came to Earth in search of an escaped prisoner called Smarsh who had been captured at the battle for Zedos 7.

Zedos 7 was the seventh planet of the Zedos system, a previously uninhabited solar system with no indiginous sentient life, located relatively close to the Quaskian system. Although inhospitable to the Quaskians it had been claimed and settled by the Quaskians due to rich mineral deposits, particularly on Zedos 7.

The wealth comming from Zedo 7 attracted the attention of the Marshians who had been quiet rivals to the Quaskians for some time. In contrast to the small, highly organised and science orientated Quaskians, the Marshians presided over a sprawling empire and had grown fat and lazy but they had overstretched themselves and were now reliant on their aging military to take by force whatever resources they could.

Without provocation the Marshians landed a huge invasion force on Zedos 7 wiping out the population centre there before moving to the industrial zones. The Quaskians put up a valiant defence but ultimately buckled under the overwhelming number of Marshians.

The Quaskian Emperor vowed revenge and mobilised for war. The Quaskian military was only small but consisted of elite troops. Fortunately the Seventh Army under Commander E-yarn was close to the Zedos system, being heavily outnumbered its orders were to contain the situation until reinforcements could arrive. On arrival at Zedos 7 the Seventh Army found the Marshians enjoying their ill-gotten gains and took them by surprise with a massive orbital bombardment which destroyed most of the Marshian fleet. The Marshians were trapped and in disarray.

Seizing the opportunity E-yarn landed his army and led a daring attack on the main Marshian encampment killing the commanding officers and capturing the administrative corps. At the point of victory E-yarn’s new dildo gun overheated and backfired; horribly disfiguring him. The Quaskians rushed their commander to the hospital and were successful in saving his live but at a terrible cost. Meanwhile, the Marshian administrative corps were herded onto a transport ship on route to Quask for interrogation.

During the voyage the leader of the Marshian administrators called Smarsh escaped aided by Griff of the idiot race of Mektonians. The Mektonians were famed for their strength and docility; they were used by the Quaskians as workers despite concerns of their sympathies to Marshians. Smarsh and Griff fled on board a Caravalda type craft, a small scouting ship powered by dylithium crystals processed from the mould that grows on the outside of the craft. Unable to control the craft properly, it careered towards Earth becoming severely damaged and crashing to the surface. Smarsh and Griff survived and began new lives trying to fit in with the indigenous people.

Whilst terribly injured, E-yarn had nevertheless won the battle and was being transported back to Quask in triumph when it learnt of the escape. As the hero of Zedos 7 is was deemed fitting that E-yarn should have the honour of retrieving the prisoners. The reconstructive surgery that was necessary following the horrific injuries durin the battle was the perfect opportunity to implant various cybernetic implants to help it adapt to wherever it might end up. After surgery, E-yarn departed for Earth aboard its own Caravalda.

Upon arrival at Earth, E-yarn faced particular difficulties. Quask was in a two-sun solar system system and the Quaskians had developed thin, pale skin that produced energy in a process similar to photosynthesis. Earth with its one-sun did not allow E-yarn to produce enough energy and he suffered long periods of drowsiness and lifelessness. E-yarn supplemented his energy by using various vibrating implements to stimulate energy production whenever possible. Although he had managed to land his Caravalda safely, the one-sun of Earth was not even strong enough for the mould to develop fully leaving him trapped.

Griff has since turned against Smarsh and seeks to distance himself from him. Today, E-yarn knows where Smarsh and Griff are but is too weak to take action. Quaskians possess limited telepathic skills and he is trying to manipulate his thin wiry hair to grow upwards in a bowl in order to form a satellite dish-style-array to focus his energy in the hope of sending a telepathic message to Quask.

Here endeth the chapter, an excerpt from the Third Chronicle of Quask.

The Chronicles

The Chronicles are not a complete narative history of Quask, rather a collection of tales and epic poems brought together over the milenia to tell the story of Quask. Many of the stories, written in the contemporary style, are difficult to understand. Others have been re-written by scolars to aid comprehension. The Chronicles as a whole is revered by Quaskians and enjoys an almost sacred status on Quask.

First Chronicle

The First Chronical tells the story of the first cultures on Quask upto the founding of the Council of Sages.

Second Chronicle

The Second Chronicle follows the first nations and the journey to unification and the birth of the Empire of Quask.

Third Chronicle

The Third Chronicle charts the progress of Quask as it explores the galaxy and comes into first contact with other races.
